covid-19 update

This has been a very different summer for the hiking group! Usually we are out exploring our glorious backyard on a weekly basis but so far this season we have only had a couple of outings with very small numbers attending as none of us were comfortable hiking with a large group. Due to car pooling restrictions we did not put out our usual call for members to be on this season’s contact list as we needed to ensure that our hikers were confident in getting themselves to the trailhead – not easy if you are brand new to the city – and also had some past hiking experience. We are hoping to plan some more outings starting this month but again, members have to be able to get themselves to the trailhead. Here’s hoping that we can get back to some sort of ‘normal’ over the next few months as fall is a gorgeous time to be out in the mountains. Photos are from our hike to Healy Pass to check out the flowers in July 2019

This group meets weekly on Tuesday from May to October, or until the snow flies, to head to the mountains for some great exercise in a beautiful setting. The group carpools and travels to Elbow Valley, Kananaskis, and Banff, primarily. We tackle easier hikes at the beginning of the season and then the hikes get longer and have more elevation as the season goes on. Participants will get the most enjoyment when they come out regularly. This is a full day activity.

New members always welcome. Please contact the convenors through our group email address, below, for more information.
